Mount Rainier 2018
Part two. The first painting shows the Nisqually glacier on Mount Rainier in 1890. Since this time, the glacier has receded over a mile up the valley. The changes that we can observe in glaciers are barometers of the pace of climate change in our region. These paintings are part of a new series that I hope increases awareness of how rapidly our beloved landscapes are changing and inspire you to look a little differently at a glacier if you see one.
